“Whoever loves money never has enough;
whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income.
This too is meaningless.”
~Ecclesiastes 5:10~

Solomon is known for his wisdom, but in spite of that wisdom,
Solomon could not overcome the temptations
that went along with living a life of luxury.

However…

Solomon’s greatest sin was his loss of devotion to God.
He allowed himself to become ensnared by the world
and entangled in his possessions.

“Moreover, when God gives any man wealth,
and possessions,
and enables him to enjoy them,
to accept his lot and be happy in his work,
this is a gift from God.”

~Ecclesiastes 5:19~

Solomon no longer considered his possessions a gift from God
his joy was replaced by discontent and dissatisfaction,
leaving him unable to enjoy his wealth or any of his possessions.

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.
For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.”
~1 Timothy 6:6-7~

Solomon lost the ideals of his youth and had forsaken his first love,
thus concluding that the accumulation of more wealth
and more possessions did not bring about joy or contentment.
Everything had become meaningless.

Because…

“For riches do not endure forever.”
~Proverbs 27:24a~

Let us not allow the pursuit of wealth rob us
from living the full life that God
has waiting for us.
